Timber or composite?
Timber decking
Timber is the traditional choice for good reason. When it's the right species, properly treated and correctly installed, a timber deck performs beautifully for fifteen years or more, and it looks like what it is: a natural material that belongs in a garden.

- Easy to repair: individual boards can be replaced if damaged

Composite decking
Composite decking has come a long way. Done right, it's a serious long-term investment: near-zero maintenance, 25-year warranties, and no greying or splitting. The quality end of the market is a different thing entirely from those early plasticky products.
- Near zero maintenance: no oiling, no treating. Wash it down occasionally.
- 25-year warranties: quality boards genuinely deliver on them
- Consistent colour: doesn't grey, silver or fade the way untreated timber does
- Slip resistance: textured surfaces perform better in wet British conditions

Every piece of timber I use is sourced from FSC-certified merchants, the Forest Stewardship Council standard that guarantees the wood comes from responsibly managed forests. No illegal logging, no habitat destruction, no greenwashing.
Beyond sourcing, building things properly is itself the sustainable choice. A deck or fence built correctly lasts fifteen to twenty years. A cheap job that fails in five means double the material use, double the waste, double the cost to you.

I come to your garden, take measurements, and talk through the design with you in person. We finalise exactly what you want: timber or composite, dimensions, style, finish.

You get a detailed, honest quote. It details all the work to be carried out and includes the payment structure.

The build
I arrive when I say I will, keep the site clean, and keep you updated throughout. If anything comes up mid-job, I talk to you directly, not around you.

Before I leave, we walk the finished job together. You're satisfied with every detail, or we sort it on the spot. That's the standard, every time.
